Wild and Crazy

The weather has certainly turned and winter has arrived with gusto, literally. The wind and the swells are up, so as we always do, we headed to the ocean baths. I had a work function to attend this morning so missed the morning high tide. When we arrived it was just shy of low tide, but wow you really wouldn’t have known it.

I decided to leave the silky water/long exposure filters in the car, and try to capture the size and power of the ocean.

We started at the ocean baths as it was lightly sprinkling and we had somewhere to take cover but still watch the ocean power away. As the rain blew away i grabbed a few shots.

Take cover!

Make sure the sound is down for this one, the wind is pretty wild.

I think the baths are full.

The sheer power of the ocean is mesmerising

With the weather holding out, we decided to walk around to Nobby’s Beach.

With the waves crashing against the breakwall and a few surfers spotted walking out towards the lighthouse, we decided to keep walking.

Not too many ventured all the way out today.

The wind was whipping the tops off the waves.

The surfers were getting a few good waves inside the harbour.

This guy wasn’t having as much fun as the others … look for the snapped board in the second picture.

We headed back to the baths for a few more shots before making tracks for the warmth and dry of home.
