Leavin the white lines behind

On a beautiful Sunday morning we decided to jump in the car and go out exploring, get off the main roads and away from the white lines. in other words get some dust on those tyres πŸ™‚

We headed south of Newcastle not too far but far away enough to find those dirt roads and tree lined roads of the Watagans National Park. We took our time driving the tracks and checking out the lookouts before finding the walk to Gap Creek Falls – 850m the sign said cool short walks were right u our lazy Sunday afternoon alley. we got about 500-600m and realised this was not going to be a stroll in the park as the dirt path started to steeply wind its rocky way down to the falls, oh boy coming back up was sure going to be fun.

We managed to make it down in one piece – i sure was glad i had left that tripod back in the car ! Improvising with my backpack i grabbed a few shots of the trickle coming over the falls and then we headed up, or should i say for about 150m scrambled on all fours then hiked our way back up to nice meandering path to catch our breathe before heading for home.

Its so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle if only for a few hours and about an hour from home – we really do live somewhere pretty special !
