Gettysburg

After a lovely quiet sleep in our lovely hotel room we woke and turned on the tele while we packed up n sorted plans for the day. We got hooked watching space shuttle enterprise being flown from DC to its new home in NYC aboard USS Intrepid. This is such a site seeing the shuttle atop the 747 n to be flying over the iconic sites of NYC wow that’s pretty cool. Once we had seen enough of enterprise it was back in the car n on the road with destination the famous battlefield that is Gettysburg.

The little town is very cute n super serious about its civil war past n there are lots of little museums n stores done up like they might have been back then.

The battlefield spreads out over a large section of the town n the driving tour route is about 20+ miles that weaves its way in n put of town. Imagine that living basically on what was the civil war battlefield not sure if that’s erie or cool 🙂

We drove the route and it really is a pretty little country town. At one of the stops we met a lovely Vietnam vet who is also a Gettysburg volunteer. He had so much knowledge n interest in the war n was super interesting to talk to especially about all the different canons n guns used in each of the battles .. You could hav listened to him for hours upon hours

We finished off the battlefield tour at the national cemetery before heading to a little Italian place we had spotted along the way .. Whoa was it busy we didn’t think we would get a table but with patience comes rewards n we got a table. It was well worth the wait the food was yummy.

Then it was off to the Super 8 hotel we had booked into, and we were hoping that unlike at check in there wouldn’t be any huge greyhounds wandering the lobby n certainly not the rooms !!!!
