12 Nov – Barcelona

A sleep in and ordinary weather so we fiddled some more on the internet then walked to the tram/train that takes us to Montjuïc, the Central Park of Barcelona with Castell de Montjuïc. We walked around the Castell for awhile the views were not as great as they could be as it was very hazy and cloudy.

We then headed to Barcelona’s arc de triomphe and then to Gaudís La Sagrada Família. Antoni Gaudí (1852 – 1926) was a devout Catholic and an eccentric architect whose work is full of references to nature and to Catholicism. His masterpiece, La Sagrada Família is Barcelona’s most famous building. Construction began in 1882 though its only half-built, and no-one really knows when it will be finished (they do appear to be running out room). It must rate as the weirdest church on the planet.
